Race and ethnicity in five maps
Five shares of one population, one map each, on one colour scale. A single map of the white share shows where white residents live; the five together show where each group lives relative to the others.
In New York City, 65.5% of non-Hispanic white residents and 53.2% of non-Hispanic Black residents live in tracts where their own group is more than half of residents. The figure is 46.8% for Hispanic residents, 24.7% for non-Hispanic Asian and 0.0% for other or multiracial non-Hispanic. One group is more than half of residents in 1,596 of 2,243 populated tracts. The estimates are ACS five-year figures for 2019 to 2023.
